From the 2014 Sasol Solar Challenge, the two winning South African teams are on their way to the 2015 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. This is the first time that solar electric vehicles from the African continent will participate abroad. Engineering students from North-West University (NWU) as well as the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) will represent South Africa this October in Australia when they rub shoulders with the big names in solar energy. This is a biennial event starting in Darwin in the Northern Territory, stretching 3000 km through the desert, to Adelaide in the South. The teams will leave Darwin on the 18th of October and head for the finish line in Adelaide. The first teams will arrive in Adelaide on Thursday the 22d of October when the finish line opens.
Sasol Solar Challenge will join the teams in Australia to keep you up to date with where the teams are and how they are doing. Follow us on social media and watch this page for up to date information.
The teams prepared very hard for this race and we wish them the best.
