The South African Solar Car Teams representing their country and the whole of Africa finished this morning in Adelaide, Australia.  The red carpet were rolled out to welcome the North West University Solar Car team in the 11th position and the Kwa-Zulu Natal team in 13th place. This is a huge accomplishment for these two teams who took part in this race through the outback for the first time ever.  They have outdone themselves and we hope to see them back in Darwin in two years time.  Ready to take on the best teams in the world.

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is a 3000km race through Australia, starting in Darwin in the North to Adelaide in the South.  The teams have to be self sufficient and sleep alongside the road wherever they are at the end of the race day.  That would mean sleeping in the outback and making their own food.  This also implies no showers or proper facilities for most of the 5 – 7 days on the road.

The 2016 Sasol Solar Challenge will take place in September next year and we hope to see both teams with many of the international teams in this event through South Africa.

Once again:  Congratulations!
