The Sasol Solar Challenge (SSC) is pleased to announce that Ctrack, South Africa’s leading fleet management and asset monitoring solutions provider, has joined the event as the official telematics sponsor.

Ctrack has been the telematics and tracking sponsor of the Sasol Solar Challenge since its debut in 2008.

“We are delighted to partner with Ctrack. This partnership will not only assist in tracking the solar car teams’ daily performances but also enable followers of the event to keep track of their favourite team’s activities during the challenge,” said Robert Walker, Owner and Director of the Sasol Solar Challenge. “Both the teams and followers of the event will know how many kilometres each team did from start to finish line of each day of the eight-day long event.”

As part of the agreement, Ctrack will provide the Sasol Solar Challenge with monitoring equipment for the solar car teams during the on-road segment of the event. Additional to this, Ctrack will also send a supporting technical team to travel with the event to service any technical telematics or monitoring needs during the on-road segment - a major value-add for the event.

“Ctrack is proud to be a partner of the prestigious Sasol Solar Challenge. We join forces to seek out cutting edge solutions and drive innovation that tackles real-world problems. Ctrack also believes in continuous investment in research and development and is excited to see what the 2022 contestants deliver,” said Hein Jordt, Chief Executive Officer of Ctrack Africa.

Nozipho Mbatha, Senior Manager: Group Brand and Sponsorships at Sasol said: “We appreciate Ctrack’s commitment to supporting the Sasol Solar Challenge throughout the years. Their presence in the event continue to add a significant value each year, especially in ensuring that the solar car teams and event organisers have the correct data of the daily proceedings of the event. We look forward to working with the team at Ctrack.”
